The purpose of this project is to examine all modes of transportation within and around the Knoxville region to recommend a strategic regional transportation investment strategy over the next 25+ years.

Welcome.
We’re glad you’re here!

This website will help the project team share information, updates, and opportunities for feedback throughout the update. We are planners and engineers, and we are looking for strategies to continually grow and efficiently move around the Knoxville region.

How do we define Regional Transportation?

A regional transportation system involves roads, buses/transit, sidewalks, accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians, and freight movement (rail, waterway, or air). All forms of travel are included as part of this long-range planning update.

TPO and Our Partners

The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) update will be developed through partnership with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), Knox County and portions of Anderson, Blount, Loudon, Roane, and Sevier Counties.
